How to Make Butter
Making butter is something we've been wanting to do for awhile! We are glad we got the opportunity!!!
What you'll need:
- Heavy whipping cream
- Salt (optional)
- Some type of mixer (we used a food processor)
- Metal spoon
- Strainer
- 2 bowls
Step 1:
Gather up everything you'll need! The salt is optional, we added it to bring out the flavor! We used store bought creamer but it would be nice if we could get our hands on some fresh cream right off a farm!!!
Step 2:
Add the heavy creamer to the food processor! 1 pint fit ours perfectly!
Start mixing! We put the food processor on a low setting and within minutes we were in the whip cream state!

After 7 minutes
Butter fully separated |
Step 4:
Strain the buttermilk out. The best way to do this is grab your strainer and slowly pour the milk from the food processor! You're going to want to dump the butter in the strainer as well! This will get even more buttermilk off.

Buttermilk |
After the butter has completely drained, empty the butter into a bowl. Then take a spoon and start pressing down on the butter. The more you do this the more buttermilk you'll squeeze out. Be sure to pour out any milk that builds up!

Step 6:
When you've pressed enough, go ahead and place your butter into containers! If you want it to harden up place it in the fridge!
